I'm swimming to save lives

  • This is my first year diving

  • in for youth mental health
The first time I swam to raise money for charity was when I was 12.  My sister and I each swam 101 laps (50m pool).  It was nearly winter in a freezing outdoor pool, raining and sleeting, with 2 loving parents bringing us hot chocolate every couple of laps.  It took hours and everyone else has quit long ago, but we were stubborn and we had pledged to swim as far as possible because we got dollars per lap.  

I had so many things in my life that gave me hope, even when things were rough.  Swimming, and music, loving parents and kind friends.  Too many kids don’t have any of those things, so I’m swimming for them

First Day of Laps for Life

I was so excited to log my first laps for March.  I really wanted to go hard and make a dent so I powered through 200 laps tonight.  Very proud of myself and everyone who is doing this to help save young lives

Some days are harder than others

4km today but the shoulder was a bit achy.  Nice guy at the pool today, I think the Laps for Life swim cap is a conversation starter 😁. 

First swim in a while

Now that I'm back near a pool, I did my first training session yesterday.  Just 40 laps (2km) as I was doing stroke correction drills.  That's the plan for this week so I can tidy things up before getting in the kms in March.

Got my new custom goggles from Magic5.  They're so fab!
