I'm swimming to save lives

  • This is my first year diving

  • in for youth mental health
So, I'm doing a thing. A swim thing. After many years of just sitting beside pools and sipping cocktails, I'm getting back in to swim laps to raise money to help prevent youth suicide.
Suicide always hits hard, but when someone so young, and with so much life ahead of them feels the need to take their own life, it's especially devastating. And in this age of social media comparisons, hyper-consumerism, unrealistic expectations, cyber bullying (as well as bullying in real life), revenge-porn, grooming, extortion, and anonymous haters, more and more young people are taking their own lives.
As the step-mother of five, auntie to three, 'Stina to two, Kiki to one, and cultural "mum, auntie" (even grandma) to many more bright and beautiful young souls, I'd do anything to help prevent any child from taking their own life.
Which is why I'm aiming to swim at least 2km over the month of March. By my calculations, that's 20 laps of the local Cooktown Swimming Pool each week and I'd really appreciate it if you could sling me a few of your hard earned dollars in support.
Even a few bucks can help save a young person's life.
