I'm swimming to save lives
- This is my third year diving
- in for youth mental health
Did you know suicide is the leading cause of death for young people in Australia?
That means that each year more young people die by suicide than in car accidents or from cancer.
This March, I'm swimming to make sure young people in Australia have the mental health support they urgently need.
By sponsoring my challenge, you’ll be helping to prevent youth suicide.
All funds raised will help young people feel better about today and the future, no matter what challenge they're facing.
What a mix up
one of those mornings, so determined and focused on getting a swim in because yesterday the rain prevented it, that I lost focus on what I came after the swim. I headed off to the pool and along the way realised that today was the day I had a roster change and my start was half hour earlier. Oh well I thought, I will just swim for the half the time. I got in the pool and my goggles leaked, fixed them up and did another lap….repeated this process ten times and then it was all over, time to get out. Never mind, some laps are better than no laps and getting in the water is a great way to start the day and reset life. Heading into work to have a wonderful day!Met my swim goal
when starting out I wasn’t sure if I was going to get there and with the weather events, I have had unplanned days out of the pool. I am super excited to have reached my 20k goal but will continue to see if 30km is achievable.First day
I am heading out to the pool this morning for my first official Laps for Life swim this year. I’m both excited to be helping out and nervous about reaching my goal. Filliwing a car accident in August, my swim routine depleted and I went for weeks without a single swim. my fitness level has dropped off and the laps don’t come easy now. with all the weather events in February and pool closures that resulted, I feel my preparation has been inadequate at beat. Still, I’m going to give it my best effort and see how we go. I will feel like I have earned every dollar of donation because this is going to require a bigger effort than the years past. “Just keep swimming”My Swim Progress
