Why I'm Doing This
- This is my first year diving
- in for youth mental health
For anyone that knows me you'll know that I've been through what can only be described as the hardest 3 years of my life. For those that don't know me that well, now you know. I've struggled with my mental health over the last few years (probably longer without being aware of it) and at times it's been dark and sad so I understand the importance of organisations like ReachOut as I've had to lean on a few of these types of services myself.
On top of my own struggles, my family lost someone so very, very dear to us to suicide last year and I am doing this to honour him as well.
Because of all the above, I'm going to be fundraising for an organisation called ReachOut, who provide suicide prevention and mental health support to young people across Australia. I am committing to swimming at least 10km in March. I've also set a $1,000 fundraising goal but I would really like to smash this goal and raise as much as I possibly can over the month.
I know so many of us are going through a tough time at the moment, whether it's from world conflict, slower economies, rising prices or our own life challenges so asking for a donation right now seems very selfish of me but if you have anything to give at all, I would really appreciate if you give it to this cause for the month of March.
