I'm swimming to save lives
- This is my first year diving
- in for youth mental health
On Jan 1st 2025 i could only swim 25m in a pool - breaststroke - before stopping for a rest!
This year i am pushing myself out of my comfort zone - by doing a Sprint Triathlon including 750m open water swimming and pledging to swim 20k in March as part of the CEO Challenge for Reach Out's Laps for Life.
Reach Out is am amazing charity focusing on supporting young people who are suffering from mental health issues - and there are 1 million of them in Australia. Having seen at close hand how alone young people can feel, to have peer support and a wealth of knowledge is so crucial and helps them at their time of need - when they need it most - not when a Dr is free to see them (in 2 month's time)
A worrying and preventable fact is that suicide is the leading cause of death for young people in Australia. That means that each year more young people die by suicide than in car accidents or from cancer.
By sponsoring my challenge, you’ll be helping to prevent youth suicide.
All funds raised will help young people feel better about today and the future, no matter what challenge they're facing.
