I'm swimming to save lives

  • This is my first year diving

  • in for youth mental health

This March, I'm swimming to make sure young people in Australia have the mental health support they urgently need. Working in a role with a deal with Mental Health of young people I feel this challenge is essential. Last year I witnessed someone take their own life in front of a train. If I can raise any form of money to know I am making anything of a difference I will. I plan to complete this at my local pool but also at the work pool some mornings from 6:30am, please feel free to stop by and support most mornings.

In January one of my mates unfortunately also took his own life without any warning or signs. This is something that crosses my mind every single day when I help young students in my grade. I plan to swim 62km in 31 days- but maybe more. By sponsoring my challenge, you’ll be helping to prevent youth suicide. All funds raised will help young people feel better about today and the future, no matter what challenge they're facing. Thank you everyone!

28/3 3km

18km in 3 days will do it.

27/3 arvo 3km

Doubling up on swims to catch up. Gels are the saviour.

27/3 3km

After time off with another ear issue I have returned to the pool. 6km a day for 4 days will get me there. I will finish this.

22/3 3km

Hanging on.

20/3 4km

Just keep swimming

18/3 3km

Hard yakka today I hate lane sharing. Fastest 3km to date. Ear on the mend.

Good 2km in before work- ear feeling a bit better draining it before and after every swim.

16/3 3km

Big week ahead.

14/3 return to the pool

Post ear infection swim a lot of km’s to make up now.

9/3 ear infection

8/3 2km

Behind on laps and a hard slog today- will be back later to catch up.

6/3 slow 1km before the rain starts

Gonna be a busy next week once this cyclone clears. Much love to everyone who has donated so far over $1200 and rising in 6 days! 11.5km down still a long way from my 62km.

5/3 1500m

light 1500 post 5k, still cramping in both calves. Went quick and back on track for my goal. Thanks for the support swim Rusty.

4/3 5km

My biggest swim to date- calves cramped at 2.25km so couldn’t push off the wall after that. Focused on breathing. This was one of the most challenging things I have done. Thank you so much to everyone over $500 raised and only day 4. I ain’t stopping!

1025m

More traffic in the lanes then the Bruce Highway at 3pm. Will stick to mornings.

2nd march chermside pool

120 laps down, 1.5 hours later and 3km done to kick off the first swim.
